Singing a New Tune

I read an article in the Winston-Salem Journal this morning about a woman living in Charlotte. It was a feature about her hopeful new career path. The woman, Tarsha Williams, was a banker for half her life before losing her job due to company downsizing. Throughout her life, she's sang for church and for fun. So, now she is trying to pursue her dream of making it in the entertainment industry.

I liked the article for the most part. It kept my interest. I liked that the article was based on the woman's life, but also mentioned the economic struggle, including Charlotte's unemployment rate. After briefing on the economic situation, the feature turns back to her life growing up, singing. Quotes were well used and not over-done. I mostly liked the quotes from her that were worked into the author's descriptions of her life, such as:

She cut her hair -- formerly a "huge Afro." She muted her wardrobe,
changed her diet from "a lot of berries and no meat," and accepted a
job at Wachovia.
