Narrative & Dialogue

An effective way to use dialogue and narrative in features is to pick quotes with emotional impact that also add to your "character" (someone you're writing about). Neither just the action nor the dialogue tell the whole story. The two should work together. The dialogue should be a specific example that adds to the action, or what is being described.

I thought the arson example from one of the links explained this really well. The story talked about how there had been a lot of arson cases, but using quotes from a particular woman whose house was burned down added emotional impact and made the story feel more relevant.
