1. I learned from the profile section that asking questions about someone's day before a specific event even happened with help with your story. Although they may not be relevant to the event you're focusing on, they will help to put the person you're interviewing back into the moment. I also learned from the travel section that if I visit a place, I should keep two diaries; one for the story I'm supposed to be writing about and one for the other experiences I encounter. I should also let a little bit of time go by before I write the stories so that the important stuff sticks out in my mind. The third thing I learned from the history section is that a good source would be to not use what historians have already written on the subject. I was not aware of this, but apparently earlier newspapers and such are not very reliable for factual information.
2. I'm just really surprised about things like the fact that Michael was let out of prison early because he was "a really easy prisoner and they needed room". I'm just really surprised how much stuff he got away with as he was growing up and also how openly he talked about his wanting to kill Kristin and no one doing anything about it or telling someone.
